Biography, Experience, Current Projects and Fee Schedules
Nancy Gutkin O'Neil has been creating works of art in glass for twenty-five years. Most of her work is in the public sector, with many pieces in synagogues, churches, and chapels.

As a visual artist, Nancy works with color, line, imagery, and pattern, but what distinguishes her work is that she is equally involved with ideas and information. Her pieces are essentially collages made from glass that has been handpainted, photo-silkscreened, and sandblasted. She does research for each project, resulting in designs with layers of complementary and interlocking meanings.

For her Creation windows at Temple Beth El in Portland, ME, Nancy worked with unusual and compelling material from Louis Ginzberg's Legends of the Jews, along with natural imagery and modern scientific theory. For St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Waterville, ME, she used motifs and designs from ancient illuminated manuscripts along with her own illustrations of Christian symbols.

Nancy has spent the past year and a half working on a very large public art installation: sixty windows, each twenty feet tall, for the Tower Lobby of the Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Center, in Atlanta, GA. These panels contain a wide range of visual material and text all woven into a beautiful and colorful window wall. For this project, Nancy worked with federal and city agencies, and was part of a design team resolving complex and challenging issues.

Nancy brings the same commitment to all of her projects. Her pieces are thoughtful responses to the needs of the community.
