Projects and Fee Schedules
Alice
Manzi began sculpting religious themes at a young age. Her Brooklyn
College Bachelor's Degree included coursework in marble carving
with Pratt Institute in Pietrasanta, Italy. Ms. Manzi's apprenticeship
was in Pietrasanta with Fr. Thomas McGlynn, O.P., the sculptor responsible
for the Statue of Our Lady at Fatima and numerous pieces of sacred
art around the world. Ms. Manzi held the position of Graduate Assistant
in the sculpture studios at New York University and received a Master's
Degree in Sculpture in 1976.
Alice has a complete portfolio of large figurative work which demonstrates
a high level of technical ability with a variety of sculpture mediums.
Her mastery of human anatomy and ability to evoke personality in
a figure make Alice's work resonate with the religious community.
The commission process is separated into two phases: design and
fabrication. The Design Phase cluminates in a presentation of ideas
in the form of drawings and/or maquettes (models). When a suitable
design is chosen a Fabrication Contract is entered into which stipulates
design, materials, scale, cost, and estimated completion date. This
contract is normally broken up into three payments: deposit upon
signing, progress payment when the original is complete, and final
upon delivery. Since each project is unique, it is difficult to
give average prices.
