Biography, Experience, Current
Projects and Fee Schedules
Alison
Aragon was born, raised, and educated in New Mexico. She is a graduate
of St.Pius X High School in Albuquerque, and she received a degree
in Fine Arts with an emphasis on figurative sculpture from New Mexico
State University. She has continued to reside and work in Albuquerque
for the last twelve years while concentrating on projects in figurative
bronze sculpture and portraiture.
Alison finds her work most meaningful in the worship space, where
she brings a contemporary interpretation to spiritual themes. She
views the development of a sculptural piece for a worship place
as a collaborative effort along with the planning committee. She
is able to tailor her work specifically toward the vision of the
committee and to the function of the piece within the church. Visiting
the church and meeting personally with the planners is crucial to
the project.
The strengths of Alison's work include the ability to convey human
expression, formal mastery of human anatomy, eloquence of human
form, and craftsmanship. Movement is often a theme in her work.
"The act of developing and sculpting a figure in clay is meditation
as well as a fine craft for me," Alison says..
The works of Alison Aragon in bronze can be found in the Norbertine
Priory in Albuquerque, and in the Felician Sisters Convent in Rio
Rancho, New Mexico.
