Biography, Experience, Current
Projects and Fee Schedules
Samuel
Joseph Corso holds both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree of
Fine Arts from Louisiana State University. He has been a full-time,
professional artist for the past 26 years, working in the various
media of architectural stained glass, mosaics, wax casting for bronze
sculpture, oil pastel on paper, watercolor, cloth banners, and furniture
design. He is president of Dufour/Corso Studios, Ltd., whose primary
focus is designing and fabricating artwork for liturgical spaces.
Founded in 1964, Dufour/Corso Studios, Ltd., has completed works
in a variety of styles and media, ranging from traditional to contemporary,
abstract to figurative, symbolic to nonobjective. Its reputation
is well-respected for providing site-specific solutions to each
project. As president, Corso works closely with a church committee
or design consultant to create a work that is original and unique
to each community. Team collaboration with architects, landscape
architects, interior designers, and other artists is common practice
for Dufour/Corso Studios, Ltd.
The stained glass window/wall shown above, "Journey,"
is 12 feet wide and 30 feet tall and forms the backdrop for the
Altar at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, LA. It is
one of 4 window/walls designed for the church. The other window,
"Joseph," is from Manresa House of Retreats in Convent,
LA. A project for Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Monroe,
LA, included 66 windows (approximately 900 square feet of stained
glass). Many of the projects that Dufour/Corso Studios, Ltd., has
successfully completed include the design and/or fabrication of
all sanctuary furnishings. One example of this can be found at
St.
Theresa Catholic Church in Delhi, LA, where 22 stained glass windows,
baptismal font, tabernacle, 3 candle holders, sanctuary lamp, crucifix,
2 processional crosses, 14 stations of the cross, and 2 floor medallions
are installed. A similar project included the Altar, sanctuary
lamp,
ambo, credence table, baptismal font, and 2 book holders for St.
Louis King of France Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, LA.
Stained glass prices are based on square footage and vary according
to complexity and technique. The glass used is primarily European
and domestic antique and semi-antique, and the leading is traditional.
Prices for other works are based on size, complexity, materials,
and technique. Prices and a color brochure are available upon request.
