Biography, Experience, Current
Projects and Fee Schedules
Stephanie Schirm expresses her artistic personality through
a variety of mediums. Stephanie is an experienced artist who enjoys
creating collage type paintings of mainly figurative works. This
is an area where she has consistently demonstrated her ability to
combine diverse materials from paper, wood and fabric. For the last
ten years she has mainly focused on liturgical type art whether
it be sanctuary decoration or vesture. Stephanie's knowledge of
textiles is to a great extent influenced by her European training
and by her formal design training in Canada.
Prior to 1996, Stephanie created designs for some of her present
competitors. Her profound desire to take on the sole responsibilities
for her own designs was the convincing factor to open up Labyrinth
Studios Inc. in 1996. Labyrinth has collaborated with church professionals
across North America to enhance and celebrate the seasons of the
liturgical year. In 2000 Labyrinth introduced the Rituals™ trademark
focusing on liturgical expression. At the same time, other departments
of Labyrinth Studio Inc. are able to focus on other fabric type
art. Rituals™ is composed of liturgical fabrics from simple vesture
to tapestry installations, challenging the creative edge of the
religious environment.
In closing, the liturgical art Stephanie produces arises out of
a deep sense of tradition that speaks to the contemporary church
with a startling newness of vision.
