Biography, Experience, Current Projects and Fee Schedules
My introduction to stained glass was at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge from 1973 - 1977. As part of the unique stained glass program founded by Paul Dufour in the Fine Arts Department, my first efforts were conceptually akin to easel painting. Upon graduation in 1977, I founded Architectural Stained Glass, Inc. in Dallas, TX. My subsequent experience and studies with German stained glass luminaries Ludwig Schaffrath and Johannes Schreiter allowed my work to evolve and mature into larger, site specific applications that have included numerous worship spaces for a variety of faiths.

The path to every new stained glass window is as unique as a fingerprint and as fascinating as a snowflake. Unlike the easel painter, I must rediscover the "canvas" at the beginning of each commission. Every project begins with an extensive exploration of the site and client. This includes developing an understanding of the needs and expectations of worshipers, familiarization with the architectural concept and the materials that comprise the building itself, and extensive research, discussion and reflection about potential thematic directions. Circulation, solar variation, views, maintenance, security and conservation are all important considerations during this analysis. From this process emerges an imaginative and dynamically appropriate contribution to the overall liturgical environment that enhances the experience for all who worship there.

An essential aspect of my fascination with the unique medium of stained glass is our subliminal, childlike attraction to the ability of glass to filter and transform light. By not limiting myself exclusively to the two-dimensional picture-plane of a window, my work is better able to explore the ever-changing and fully three-dimensional experiences stained glass produces throughout an architectural space. This awareness and anticipation of the dramatic, spatial interaction of light and glass in an architectural context is the primary underlying emphasis in my stained glass design.
