Biography, Experience, Current
Projects and Fee Schedules
Tim Schoonard began his journey in fine woodworking in his grandfather's
workshop over 34 years ago. Since formally setting up shop in 1988,
thousands of pieces of Marywood Studio's fine liturgical furniture
can be seen in cathedrals, monasteries, churches, and parish facilities
of both the Latin and Byzantine rites throughout the great lakes
region, in styles as diverse as the client communities.
With his chosen
mission of "taking care of God's house", Tim Schoonard
believes that every piece of furniture created for worship needs
to express in some way the "mystery and majesty" that
is God's, and his unique signature can be seen in his ornamental
turnings, hand-made moldings, glass mosaic inlays, stone, tile,
and wrought iron accents, and the bold presence of his work. His
skill with traditional styles, especially gothic, has been advantageous
in blending new furniture into older, traditionally appointed spaces.
Marywood Studio
not only creates from their own designs, but will gladly create
your liturgical furniture, ornamental walls and screens, sanctuary
flooring, fonts, and other appointments from the designs of architects
or other artists. The commission process for Marywood Studio varies
with the size and scope of the project.
