Josephine
Niemann, an award winning fiber artist, designs vestments and banners
that draw attention to the action of the liturgy, rather than to
themselves. Her fabric creations are used in many worship places
throughout the U.S.A., including the TWA Dome for the 1999 visit
of Pope John Paul II to St. Louis and the following:

Josephine has
a Master of Arts from the University of Notre Dame and taught art
in secondary schools for twenty years before becoming a full-time
artist. Her work has been published in Environment and Art Letter,
Ministry & Liturgy, American Quilter Magazine, and Quilter's
Newsletter. She is co-author with Pamela Hardiman of Raise
the Banners High! Making and Using Processional Banners (LTP).
After consulting
with the pastor and environment committee, Josephine draws several
preliminary sketches from which they can choose. Her work ranges
from abstract to realistic or combine the two.
Fees include
10% for retainer, 90% on completion of commission.
