Projects and Fee Schedules
David
and Emily Wortman create simple and elegant stoneware chalice, patens,
flagons and other vessels used in church communities throughout
the United States. Their thirty years experience working with durable,
vitreous stoneware is manifest in their designs which bring simple
beauty and function to daily rituals.
David holds
a Bachelor Degree of Fine art from Santa Barbara Art Institute and
a Masters Degree of Fine Art from Tulane University. Emily was schooled
at Tulane as well but their most important education is the continuing
revelation of relationship between their pottery and the user.
The Wortman's
sacred vessels speak to a deep sense of tradition and are designed
to be functional for the liturgy. These vessels formed from humble,
earthly substance are transformed by fire to express the beauty
and strength of a community's worship.
The chalices
are on average 7"h with a 12oz. capacity; patens can be round
or oval, 8" or larger. Cruets and flagons , pitchers and bowls
are created in various sizes as well to serve specific needs or
seasons. David and Emily are happy to discuss the needs of your
worship tradition.
